Frequently asked questions

Is it really free to start?

Yes. The starter lessons, many practice exercises, the daily challenge, and deterministic hints are free with no signup. Creating a free account saves your progress across devices.

What kind of bookkeeping does this teach?

Introductory US-style accrual bookkeeping in US dollars, using fictional businesses. The concepts — double entry, journals, ledgers, reconciliations, adjustments, statements — apply widely, but rules such as tax treatment vary by country.

How are answers graded?

A deterministic accounting engine on our server checks accounts, debit or credit side, amounts, and dates. A balanced entry that uses the wrong account is still marked wrong. AI is never used to decide whether an answer is right.

Is this a professional certification?

No. Pro learners can earn a certificate of completion from Bookkeeping Exercises after passing an unassisted final assessment. It is not a CPA, AIPB, NACPB, Intuit, or college credential, and it is not a licensure or hiring decision.

Do I need accounting software?

No. Everything runs in your browser. The simulators are teaching tools, not real accounting software, and you should never enter real client or employer records.

How does the AI tutor work?

Pro learners can ask a capped AI tutor (100 requests per calendar month) for help with the current exercise. It sees the task and your saved work, gives the smallest useful hint first, and is disabled during timed assessments.
